Non-Invasive Diagnostic Screening

NON – INVASIVE DIANOSTIC SCREENING

Medical 3447369 1920

Did you know that over 600,000 people in the United States die of some type of vascular disease every year? When your doctor wants to test if you have any vascular diseases, they can use non-invasive diagnostic screening methods.

Screening provides your doctor with crucial information for proper treatment. It could reveal arterial narrowing or blockages and other vascular complications.

What to Expect?

After you meet with one of our skilled physicians for your full vascular consultation, they may identify that there is disease built up in your arteries which can be treated utilizing our state-of-the-art technology and minimally-invasive treatment options. If that is the case, the process for the procedure is really quite simple. Our staff will welcome you in on your day of procedure and get you prepped and ready.

The actual procedure itself only requires light sedation in a ‘twilight’ state, which means you will not have to be put under full anesthesia for this treatment. The procedure typically takes only 45 minutes – 2 hours. After procedure, you will be kept comfortable in our recovery room for 2-3 hours while our highly experienced medical staff monitors you prior to releasing you back to the comfort of your own home.

What is Involved with Vascular Screening?

Vascular screening involves procedures that assess the likelihood of complications in your arteries and veins. The physician checks whether your arteries and veins distribute the blood in the right way throughout your body. With proper screening, you can detect early signs of Peripheral Artery Disease, or PAD. Our experts use a variety of three advanced painless non-invasive diagnostic screening tests.

Doppler Ultrasound (Venous or Arterial)

A doppler ultrasound can help diagnose may conditions including: blood clots, poorly functioning valves in your leg veins, a blocked or narrowed artery, decreased blood circulation in your extremities and bulging arteries.

Venous Doppler

Venous doppler is a special ultrasound technique that examines blood as it circulates through a blood vessel. It captures images of your veins and will let your doctor know if there is any narrowing of a vessel or blockages to blood flow in your major veins. This test can take 30-60 minutes to complete.

Arterial Doppler

An arterial doppler is a special ultrasound technique that examines blood as it circulates through a blood vessel.  It captures images of your veins and will let your doctor know if there is any narrowing of a vessel or blockage to blood flow in your major arteries. This test can take 30-0 minutes to complete.

Ankle Brachial Index (ABI)

This is a simple test that compares the blood pressure in the upper and lower limbs. In PAD, plaque builds up in the arteries. If often affects the vessels that bring blood to the legs. The reduced blood flow can cause pain and numbness. Low ABI may mean that your legs and feet are not getting as much blood supply as needed.
